Our Scope of Work

What We Install & What We Don't

As ACMA registered telecoms specialists, we install and configure the full camera system โ€” the cameras, the cabling, the NVR/DVR, and the network configuration for remote viewing. We are not electricians, so we do not connect systems to mains power.

Most modern IP camera systems run on Power over Ethernet (PoE) โ€” meaning the cameras receive both data and power through a single Cat6 cable connected to a PoE switch. We install and configure these systems completely. For systems that require mains power connections (such as some DVR systems or external cameras requiring a dedicated power point), we work alongside an electrician.

Why IP / PoE Camera Systems?

Power over Ethernet (PoE) cameras receive both data and power through a single Cat6 cable. No separate power point required at each camera location โ€” just one cable run from the PoE switch to the camera.

This makes installation cleaner, more flexible, and more reliable than older analogue CCTV systems. IP cameras also provide significantly higher resolution (4K available), smarter detection, and better remote viewing capabilities.

We recommend PoE IP camera systems for all new installations โ€” and we install them start to finish.

Note on electrical work: If your system requires mains power connections (e.g. a power point near the NVR or dedicated power for outdoor cameras), we can coordinate with a licensed electrician. Call us to discuss.

FAQ

CCTV Installation Questions

Do you supply the cameras as well as install? +
Yes โ€” we can supply and install a complete system, or install cameras and NVR that you have already purchased. Call us to discuss your requirements and we'll advise on the right equipment.
What's the difference between IP and analogue CCTV? +
IP cameras are networked cameras that connect via Cat6 cabling and offer significantly higher resolution (up to 4K), smarter detection features, and better remote viewing than old analogue systems. We recommend IP/PoE systems for all new installations.
Can I view my cameras on my phone? +
Yes โ€” we configure remote viewing on your iOS or Android devices before we leave. You'll be able to view live footage and recordings from anywhere in the world with an internet connection.
Do you need to be an electrician to install CCTV? +
For PoE IP camera systems, no โ€” the cameras receive power through the Cat6 cable from the PoE switch, so no electrical work is required. We install these systems completely. For systems requiring new power points, we coordinate with a licensed electrician.
How many cameras do I need? +
It depends on your property layout and what you want to cover. For a typical home, 4 cameras usually cover the front, back, driveway, and a side entry. We'll assess your property and recommend the right number and placement.
Can you add cameras to my existing system? +
Yes โ€” as long as your existing NVR has spare channels and is compatible with IP cameras, we can add more cameras to your system. Call us and we'll advise whether your current system supports expansion.
